Pat Shurmur

Offensive Coordinator, Minnesota Vikings

The Cardinals could decide to go with a coordinator and former head coach in the league. Pat Shurmur was a former head coach for the Cleveland Browns.

Prior to his stint in Cleveland Shurmur was touted as an offensive guru with an ability to develop quarterbacks. This came from his time in Philadelphia as a quarterbacks coach working with Donovan McNabb.

Steve Spagnuolo pulled Shurmur from Philadelphia to spark some life in the Rams for a single season before he jumped back to his old stomping grounds in Philadelphia. As an Eagles offensive coordinator he took over for a fired Chip Kelly. The coach was praised for his work with Nick Foles at quarterback.

Once the Eagles hired Doug Pederson the former coach moved to Minnesota to coach the tight ends. He was promoted to offensive coordinator two months into the 2016 season. This last season with Minnesota showed the Shurmur has a ton to offer as a coaching candidate.

The 52 year old can work wonders with an offense like Arizona. After the Vikings lost their starting quarterback and running back the team never faltered. Instead they are a top two seed in the NFC and a favorite to get to the Super Bowl.

Shurmur could take over the Cardinals job especially if Arizona decides to go with youth at the quarterback spot. His ability to work with young quarterbacks is the biggest selling point here and I would not be surprised to see him as a lead candidate for this job.
