Josh McDaniels

Offensive Coordinator, New England Patriots

Another coach from the New England Patriots tree is current Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. This would be the flashy hire for Arizona as most around the league remember the current coordinator.

At only 41 years old it feels like McDaniels has been in the league forever. He actually has been on an NFL sideline for 16 years, most of which were in New England. The only time he left the friendly confines of Foxboro was as a stint as the Denver Broncos head coach and then as the Rams offensive coordinator.

For the past five seasons McDaniels has run one of the most impressive offenses in the NFL in New England. Coupled with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, McDaniels constantly throws new names and faces into that offense and it keeps humming. One of his most impressive feats has been to withstand a constant barrage of injuries to the team’s best playmakers and the offense not skip a beat.

Arizona would be wise to take a look at McDaniels. His tenure in Denver as the head coach was a bit tumultuous especially surrounding the trade of Jay Cutler. However, the team still saw some success despite McDaniels never finding a true quarterback to run his offense.

The Cardinals will likely be drafting their quarterback of the future in this upcoming draft. McDaniels could groom him and finally get a shot as a head coach with an offense that can execute what he likes to do.

This name will pop up all over the place. He has already been linked to the Giants opening but Arizona’s situation could appeal to McDaniels more than New York.
