Resolution: Play better offense

Perhaps the most sentimental moment of the season happened just last week. Vince Carter, all 40 years of him, outscored LeBron James in a game for the first time in 10 years. The last time it happened I was in high school, and the iPhone was only a year old.

Having said that, while Vinsanity’s offensive outburst was great for fans who were around to appreciate his days all the way back in Toronto, it shouldn’t be the best moment of the Kings’ season so far.

No. 5 pick De’Aaron Fox is out at least another week before he’s even reevaluated for a partial quad tear. The Kings are so young, they sent Skal Labissiere, Justin Jackson and Malachi Richardson to the G-League so they could at least get some playing time while the Kings attempt to remain competitive with their veterans. It hasn’t worked out. The youngins have returned to the team in varying degrees though it seems the season is still too early to hand the team over to a bunch of kids in their early 20s.

But the Kings won’t have their pick regardless in 2018, so there comes a time when they have to make a decision whether they want to play for nothing at the cost of valuable NBA experience for so many young players.
