2018 NFL Mock Draft: Baker Mayfield to Bills
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders will have a coin-flip to decide who picks No. 9 and who pick No. 10, but for fun, let’s assume the 49ers win that coin flip. While the team’s record looks pretty terrible, what they saw from their squad late in the season has go to give them hope for the future. San Francisco traded for Jimmy Garoppolo at the trade deadline, and once he finally got in the game, the rest was history.
Garoppolo won every start he made for the 49ers, winning their last five games of the season. He showed why the New England Patriots wanted to hang on to him for so long, and you can be sure that the 49ers are going to throw the kitchen sink at him to get him to sign on long-term. With a good young head coach in place in Kyle Shanahan, the return to greatness could be very soon for the 49ers.
With their top pick in next April’s NFL Draft, the 49ers should look to bring in more talent at the wideout position. While Courtland Sutton will likely be the first wideout off the board, Calvin Ridley should not be available much later. Ridley has shown during his time at Alabama that he is one of the best wide receivers in the country, and giving Jimmy G all the help he can get will only keep him happy for the next ten years of his NFL career.
