Markel Brown
Markel Brown spent his first two years in the NBA playing for the Brooklyn Nets. In his time with the Nets, he shot the ball fairly well from 3-point range. He eclipsed 40 percent from deep in both years with the team, and they were some fairly decent sample sizes.
The benefit of bringing in a guy like Brown is that he’s been on a NBA roster before, and he knows what the NBA game is like. Unlike the previous two guys he knows what it takes to score in the NBA. Another benefit of bringing him in is that he’s not just limited to the long ball. He can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket.
If you remember him from his time at Oklahoma State University, you may remember some of the highlight reel dunks he pulled off as a Cowboy. The Lakers are specifically looking for shooting, but that doesn’t mean they can’t bring in a guy that can do a little bit of everything.
Brown spent this summer with OKC, and played well but wasn’t retained by the Thunder. You may not be able to get Brown on a 10-day contract, but a non-guaranteed or two-way contract might be worth considering.
