2. Titans run defense is stifling at the moment

One of the only reasons the Titans can win this game is if they can turn the Patriots offense into a one-dimensional passing attack. That may not seem to add up. Most teams don’t want to get into a shootout against Tom Brady because the result is not good. However, the best attribute the Titans defense has is stopping the run. They only gave up an average of 88.8 rushing yards a game, good for fourth in the league. If they can contain the running game with Dion Lewis, that will force Brady to drop back and pass more than he wants too. That would give Tennessee’s pass rushers a chance to tee off and put pressure on Brady.

It is absolutely imperative for the Titans to figure out a way to defend Lewis in the passing game as well. If they can shut him down on the ground and he scorches them through the air on swings and dump-offs, they’re in big trouble. Players like tackle Jurrell Casey and linebacker Wesley Woodyard have to play well this week. It would also be a great time for linebacker Brian Orakpo flash some of his old pass-rushing ability. If Tennessee can stop the run, they have a shot at the upset. If the running game is working and Brady is doing his thing, it could be a long day for the Titans.
