Each NFL team’s Olympic candidate

Green Bay Packers: Clay Matthews, Ice hockey
As great of a quarterback Aaron Rodgers is, I don’t think I can pick him as the Packers’ Olympic candidate. He’s accomplished so much on the field and will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer but I’m not sure he fits the Olympic mold. Instead, I’m going with another long-time Packer and fan favorite, outside linebacker Clay Matthews.
Known for his luscious locks, Matthews has spent his entire eight-year career with the Packers. He’s dropped off in the past two years because of injury but is still a dangerous pass rusher. Not only does Matthew look good on the field, his play has been pretty good throughout his career. He’s totaled 80 sacks and over 450 tackles in his career. Coming from a football family, Matthews has definitely lived up to the family name. I don’t think his father or grandfather would be displeased with the results.
Matthews is another player I’d love to see on the ice rink. Just about any physical defender is going to fare well in the ice rink. Matthews can make big tackles and also isn’t afraid to get hit himself. Maybe even try him in goal to see if he can stop pucks himself. Pretty much any kind of physical sport against an opponent, Matthews is bound to be good at it. That’s just the kind of athlete he is.
