Each NFL team’s Olympic candidate

Los Angeles Chargers: Joey Bosa, Ice hockey
See a common theme here? Pass rushers and defensive ends rule this list but for good reason. They’re some of the most athletic and talented players in the NFL. They’re asked to get past 300+ pound offensive lineman every down and get to quarterbacks who can be impossible to bring down. That’s exactly why Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa comes in as the team’s Olympic candidate.
Paired with Melvin Ingram, the Chargers’ pass rush has been dominant this season. They’re tied fifth with 41 sacks on the season and it’s because of these two. Bosa especially is set to be a star in the league and you can argue that he already is. He has 21. 5 sacks through close to two regular seasons the Chargers can sit comfortably knowing they have the future of their pass rush for years to come. No matter the opponent this season, Bosa has had his way with offensive lines.
If Bosa is invited to the Olympics I would have some concerns. What if he decides he wants to sit out for certain events? We saw Bosa sit out the first part of his rookie season over contract disputes. While you can’t blame Bosa for wanting to get his guaranteed money, are we sure he would be fully committed to the big games?
Just kidding of course but Bosa would be a fun player to watch compete in the Olympics. If you haven’t seen the event already, of course, he’s going right with the other physical defenders and playing ice hockey.
