Each NFL team’s Olympic candidate

Los Angeles Rams: Todd Gurley, Cross-country skiing
This pick was a toss-up between two players on opposite sides of the football: Running back Todd Gurley and defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Both are the leaders on their respective starting 11’s but given Gurley’s recent domination, I have to go with the third-year running back.
Much of the talk has been about Le’Veon Bell’s eventual big payday and Gurley will be in that same conversation once his rookie contract has come up. He struggled in the well-known sophomore slump that many players seem to have but Gurley’s third season has been a career best. He leads the league in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, scrimmage yards and rushing-receiving touchdowns. It’s time to not only put Gurley in the top running back conversation but also in the MVP conversation as well. He’s proving to be that special of a player right now.
It doesn’t matter how Gurley gets the ball, he can’t be stopped heading to the end zone. Just ask every opponent how that’s worked out this season. It’s a huge reason why the Rams are 12-4 and have clinched their first playoff berth in over 10-years. First-year head coach Sean McVay and the rest of the team can thank Gurley for his contributions.
I’d like to see Gurley in an Olympic event that features footwork and that event is cross country skiing. Gurley is already used to traveling long distances for touchdowns on the football field and it’s not much different in the snow. He’s putting up MVP numbers on the field and would be the MVP at the event in February.
