Miami Dolphins: Julius Thomas, Skeleton

A little bit out of the box but I am going with tight end Julius Thomas as the Dolphins’ Olympic candidate. Thomas hasn’t been the same player since his dominant seasons with the Denver Broncos in 2013 and 2014 but is quite the talent at the tight end position. I have him picked out of all the other players on the Dolphins’ roster for a specific reason.

Interestingly enough, Thomas’ path to the NFL was an unorthodox one. He attended Portland State University to play basketball and did that for his four years. But on top of that, Thomas also took his talents to the football field and it paid off tremendously. Despite never playing football before college, Thomas played just one year and immediately became an NFL prospect. There was so much interest that the sport he just learned how to play became a top priority and Thomas was on his way to the NFL draft.

I say all of this because if Thomas is a big body, but also a player that’s agile and has some touch. that’s why he’d be perfect for the skeleton event. His wait would help him travel down the course faster and he’s also got the coordinator to move and hit the turns right for the most optimal speed. Sure it might be a stretch but the Winter Olympics are a lot more limited when it comes to options. That’s why we’ve got to get creative.
