2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

One common theme throughout the season was the New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees may be showing signs of decline. The Saints have discovered an elite rushing attack and some thought Brees could not carry the offense any more. He shut up all those naysayers with an impressive performance in the Wild Card round against Carolina.

During the regular season Bress did not throw for 5,000 yards, like we have accustomed to. He did not need to for this Saints team to win. Brees still finished fourth in the league in passing yards. He also set a career high in completion percentage and had his highest QBR since 2009.

Like the other quarterbacks on this list he also has playoff experience and has won a Super Bowl. This may also be the best all around Saints team Brees has been a part of.

New Orleans no longer needs to lean on Brees’ arm to win games. Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara are the most dangerous running back duo in the NFL. Their defense also features solid playmakers on every level.

The Saints-Vikings clash will be an interesting one. Minnesota and New Orleans squared off in Week 1. Both teams are vastly different from that meeting. Brees will look to lead his offense against the NFC’s best defense in Minnesota to advance to the conference championship round.
