The Minnesota Vikings won an insane playoff game over the New Orleans Saints, but it was the extra point afterward that cost people a ton of cash.

With 10 seconds remaining, the Minnesota Vikings were still at their own 39-yard line, readying for another edition of playoff heartbreak. Quarterback Case Keenum dropped back and let fly to Stefon Diggs who somehow caught the ball, eluded a horrendous tackling attempt by Saints safety Marcus Williams, and turned upfield to run into the end zone.

With no time remaining, the Vikings took a 29-24 lead but needed to kick the extra point to make the game final by NFL standards. Here’s where the bad beat comes in.

Going into the game, the line had Minnesota favored by 5.5 points. At 29-24, anybody betting on the Saints still won their bet, but a successful extra point would push the final sore to a six-point difference, giving those who laid money on the Vikings a successful wager.

Incredibly, Minnesota decided to take a knee instead of kicking the extra point, making the final score 29-24. If you can imagine a worse beat than that, please let us know in the comments below. Here’s a sampling of what people on Twitter had to say about the situation.

The moral of this whole thing? Don’t bet on sports, kids. It’s going to get you one way or the other. This time around, if you bet on Minnesota to cover, you learned that lesson in one of the most brutal fashions imaginable.
