Wrestling legend Bill Goldberg expected to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018.

WWE has announced that WCW legend Bill Goldberg is expected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2018. The announcement came this morning as ESPN was the first to break the story that Goldberg would in-fact get into the WWE Hall of Fame. WWE later confirmed on their website that reports on Goldberg getting into the Hall of Fame were accurate.

“Goldberg’s unique athleticism, persona and intensity captured the imagination of sports entertainment fans around the world throughout his illustrious career,” stated WWE Executive Triple H. “We are honored to have Goldberg take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.”

Goldberg late spoke to ESPN after finding out the news about his entry into the Hall of Fame.

“At the end of the day, any business, any venture that you embark upon, you want some type of acknowledgement,” Goldberg said. “You always try to make it to a top. There’s no reason to do anything unless you want to be the best.”

Although Goldberg was remembered for his performance in WWE in ’03 and ’17, he was mainly known for his stint in WCW in the late ’90s and the early ’00s, as he was considered one of WCW main-event wrestlers of that time. For being known for his power-house built and abnormal athletic ability, Goldberg was considered a major draw for WCW at the height of his popularity. He was also booked through his career as an “unstoppable” force in the ring, while holding a disputed record of 173-0.

Although he signed with WWE in ’03 after WCW closed out, his run with the company was considered a disappointment by many as his first stint only lasted for a year. Despite this, He later returned to the WWE in late 2016 to work a program with Brock Lesnar and even went on defend his universal championship at last year’s Wrestlemania 33.
