Short Track Speed Skating: “Push It to the Limit” – Paul Engemann
Scarface is an awesome movie. Al Pacino was the man in that as Tony Montana. To me, it was easily the best performance of the late Robert Loggia’s career. It has an amazing soundtrack, and I think “Push It to the Limit” by Paul Engemann needs to make the cut for the Winter Olympics list.
I mean, it sounds like a freaking video game. If you can’t get jacked up listening to “Push It to the Limit”, well, then you’re not pushing it to the limit, I suppose. Short track speed skating is all about walking, or rather skating, on the razor’s edge. If you stumble and slide on the ice ’cause you ain’t Apolo Aton Ohno, well, you might end up with a scar on your face like Montana because there are a lot of skates out there.
These guys are flying around that short track so fast, it’s just an amazing watch. When it goes well, then speed skating champions become champions. Should it be a mess, well, everybody likes to watch a car crash. Besides seeing guys eat pavement in the Tour de France, short track speed skating crashes are the best.
If you haven’t watched Scarface in an while or really paid close attention to “Push It to the Limit”, you will ask yourself two things. One, this should have been the official unofficial song of short track speed skating from the jump. And two, I’m sure Dragonforce is just ripping this song off the entire time. You can’t replace Ohno and this song is freaking incredible, man. Now, you’re at the limit.
