2018 NBA Mock Draft: Luka Doncic could accelerate the Hawks’ rebuild
I watched his game last Wednesday night against Texas A&M, when he scored 16 points on 6-10 shooting to go with five assists. He had an incredible game driving to the hoop on offense, beating his man with speed and quick dribble moves before finishing over rim protection with high, arcing layups and floaters.
Gilgeous-Alexander can finish at the hoop with either hand and it allows him to score not only around screens, but even in isolation. His outrageous speed will probably be his best NBA weapon initially, and in transition it is wild to watch him get out in front of defenses.
He followed up that performance in a victory over Texas A&M with 22 points against Vanderbilt. With starter Quade Green injured, the freshman has made the most of an opportunity. By drafting Gilgeous-Alexander, Cleveland would give themselves a developmental option at point guard if Isaiah Thomas were to leave this summer.
