Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

One of the best parts of the Senior Bowl is learning prospects who you’ve never got to watch. South Dakota State’s Dallas Goedert fits that bill. A year ago it was Gerald Everett and Cooper Kupp stealing the show as small school receiving prospects. This year it could be Goedert.

In the first mock draft for Todd McShay he has Goedert going 31st overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While even McShay notes it may be early for Goedert, the process leading up the draft could be friendly.

One thing the athletic tight end has going for him is that he down right dominated his competition. That is something that the NFL looks for when someone is coming from a smaller program like South Dakota State. Goedert put up the type of numbers that you suspect from an elite NFL prospect playing against the likes of North Dakota State and Western Illinois. He finished the season with 72 catches for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns.

Here is perhaps the best play Goedert put on tape this season.

Goedert measures 6-foot-4 and close to 260 pounds. The testing will be crucial for a player like him. If he can go out in Mobile and show that he can ball against the elite competition there will be little doubt he is the first tight end off the board.
