High Value PF

Dirk Nowitzki, DAL vs WAS ($4,700): After missing value in two straight, Nowitzki dropped 33.5 fantasy points on the Trail Blazers on Saturday. Nowitzki wasn’t hitting his usual makable shots, but that was never going to continue given his career history of being one of the best shooters of all-time. He had 12.75 fantasy points in 19 minutes against the Wizards on Nov. 7. I expect him to bounce back from that performance given that the Mavericks will be at home. Nowitzki has been a solid play all season and that should continue on Monday. ***

Taj Gibson, MIN at LAC ($5,400): No Jimmy Butler means everyone on the Timberwolves sees an increase in usage. That’s the case with Gibson, who had 28 fantasy points against the Raptors on Saturday. Karl-Anthony Towns’ early foul trouble also helped his case. Gibson is averaging 39.1 fantasy points in two games against the Clippers this season. He’s a strong rebounder who gets a handful of points and chips in with a couple of defensive plays. I would not be shocked if Gibson had 30 fantasy points on Monday. ****

Derrick Favors, UTA at ATL ($5,600): Favors looked just fine with Rudy Gobert by his side against the Clippers, posting 35.5 fantasy points in that one. I still worry about the fit between Favors and Gobert. There’s no question that, on most nights, Gobert take aways from the production of Favors. But the Jazz are hurting in the frontcourt right now, leaving Favors to play more minutes by himself. When that happens, he’s a strong points and rebounding contributor. I think he’ll hit value, but am worried Gobert takes away from him. ***
