Tuesday, Jan. 23: Cleveland at San Antonio, 8:00 p.m.

All-Star starter: LeBron James

LeBron remains the world’s best player, and his 14th All-Star appearance coming with in days from his becoming the youngest player to reach 30,000 points is something I’d never thought I’d see. He’s amazing, even if he quits playing defense until April.

But oof. Not a great week for the Cavaliers. Not a great time to be associated with the Cavaliers. From questions surrounding Tyronn Lue’s job security to hypotheticals that involve the Cavs trading for DeMarcus Cousins, Cleveland may actually be in trouble.

That is to say, a lot happens in a week. I wasn’t worried about the Cavaliers as much as everyone else. But they just flat out stink on defense. They are only .4 points per possession behind the Sacramento Kings for the league’s worst defense. The almighty mark set by the Kings’ awful defense is only a couple 148-point shellackings from being topped. The Cavs have some serious issues heading into the second half of the season.
