NBA games of the week: All-Star Starters
By Chazz Scogna
Friday, Jan. 26: Brooklyn at Milwaukee, 8:00 p.m. ET
All-Star starter: Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Greek Freak, who’s making his second-straight All-Star star, won’t play until Friday against the Nets. It’s a precaution for knee soreness. The silver lining in the Bucks’ missing their superstar cornerstone was Khris Middleton’s first career triple-double, even if it came in a loss to the Sixers.
Antetokounmpo’s MVP candidacy will last for the rest of the season, considering no one can stop him. But as long as the Bucks are still coached by Jason Kidd, and the team’s potential won’t be tapped until he switches something up. I don’t even think he’s that wrong when he says young players tend to hunt their own numbers instead of the success of the team.
But, he’s not a reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel pontificating from the outside. He’s the head coach of the team. If there are issues with the approach to the way the players approach the game, it falls on him to fix it.
The Bucks are long and ultra-athletic and young. They have a superstar who is only 23-years-old. There needs to be a real discussion in the front office about the future of who leads this team from the sidelines.
