2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen goes to the Jets
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals named their next head coach on Monday, as they hired Steve Wilks from Carolina to take over for the retired Bruce Arians. Arians was a players’ coach, and it will be interesting to see how the first-time head coach navigates a veteran locker room in Arizona. Wilks is very respected throughout the league, and brings a no-nonsense attitude that is going to get the players respect early in his tenure as head coach.
The roster Wilks is inheriting is full of talent, and he may have the best running back in the NFC in David Johnson. One area where they will focus on this offseason is the quarterback position, as Carson Palmer retired after last season. The Cardinals should look to draft their next franchise quarterback, and Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield may be available to them at No. 15.
Mayfield does not have the physical attributes you look for in an NFL quarterback, but neither to the likes of Drew Brees and Russell Wilson. Some experts have compared him to Johnny Manziel, as he plays with incredible passion, and is a bit cocky at times. However, Mayfield is going to be a much better pro than Manziel was, as he is a leader of men, and has shown that he has the drive to be the best football player he can be at the next level.
