2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen goes to the Jets
By Brad Weiss
The Seattle Seahawks failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011 this past season, as they had to deal with too many injuries on the defensive side of the ball. The Legion of Boom saw Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor miss time due to injuries, as well as Cliff Avril. If the Seahawks want to get back to dominance in the NFC West, they have to get younger on defense, so spending their first round pick on that side of the ball makes sense.
While Richard Sherman is still a solid cornerback, he is starting to get up there in age. The Seahawks need to make a move to make sure they have depth at the position when he is gone, and they could grab a fantastic corner in Denzel Ward. Ward has been a standout player during his time with the Ohio State Buckeyes, who seem to churn out top defensive back talent each and every year.
Ward has great hands for a defensive back, and should be a shutdown player at the next level. If he can have the kind of impact former Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore had during his first season with the New Orleans Saints this season, then the Seahawks will have found a gem. This Seahawks team is still a playoff-caliber unit, and a couple of pieces should have them back at the top of the NFC next season.
