Quarterback. Wyoming. Josh Allen. 6. player. 30.

The New York Jets will be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason, whether or not they decide to grab one via the NFL Draft. Last year, Josh McCown had a career-year for the Jets, though he is obviously not a long-term solution at the position. Picking at No. 6, the Jets should be able to nab one of these big-named quarterbacks in this draft class, and Wyoming’s Josh Allen may be waiting for them outside the top-5.

Allen did not put up crazy statistics during his time at Wyoming, and he failed to win on a consistent basis. However, he has all the size needed to be a big-time player at the next level, and some even believe he could be the first quarterback off the board. While that assessment seems a bit far-fetched, he is going to go early in round one, and the Jets need to find someone who can play the position long after McCown hangs them up.

There is a good chance McCown could be back with the team next season, either as the starting quarterback, or as a backup. The idea that either Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg will start is a stretch, and the team may decide to move on from them. Allen will be highly scrutinized during his Pro Day, and at the Scouting Combine, and a good performance could actually cause him to be picked before the Jets select at No. 6.
