2. Colin Kaepernick

This suggestion would be interesting. There’s really no way to tell where Colin Kaepernick will be in his life two years from now. He’s turned into a social activist since he didn’t play in the NFL last season. There were plenty of whispers about why he wasn’t in the league from his spotty play as a pocket-style passer to his kneeling for the National Anthem. On that note, McMahon has stated that no player will be permitted to kneel for the anthem while playing for the XFL. Regardless of whether that is right or wrong, McMahon owns all eight teams. He can make that rule if he pleases.

Despite some of the criticisms of Kaepernick’s style of play, he can be an effective quarterback in the right system. He’s thrown a career 72 touchdowns to just 30 interceptions and is a lethal threat on the ground. It would be hard to pick up football after so long away from the game. However, that’s going to be the case with a lot of players. The XFL will not be lucky enough to get too many ready-made players. They’ll have to take the talent and recognizable name wherever they can get it and hope it works out from there. McMahon has also already stated that Kaepernick would be welcomed into the XFL provided he stand for the anthem. It may not lead to a way back into the NFL but it would provide Kaepernick with a way to play football again.
