2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
Though Indiana could already have three point guards under contract for next season, Gilgeous-Alexander has exploded to the point that it’s hard to imagine him falling further than this.
He’s Trevon Duvall with a more polished skill set, in that once he gets inside he has the dribble moves and layup package to score efficiently. On top of that, he can absorb contact with his long frame and draw fouls. At that point, his 82 percent free-throw shooting takes him home.
Add that all up and he’s scoring 12 points per game on a .565 true shooting percentage. The opportunities continue to pile up for the freshman, and he has remained the starter even during the last two games since Quade Green returned from injury.
Indiana still needs another guard to pair with Victor Oladipo long-term, and Gilgeous-Alexander has the type of skill set that will complement Oladipo’s shooting and driving into the future.
