2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
Knox will probably start to slide for me over the next couple weeks, because if his 3-point shot isn’t consistent, his value wanes. But the Bulls have a big need on the wing, and he makes a lot of sense for their defense.
Right now, Chicago is forced to play small, with guys like David Nwaba, Denzel Valentine and Justin Holiday filling in at small forward a lot of the time. That works for Fred Hoiberg’s motion offense, which ideally features shooting and passing at every position. But if they were to get a guy like Knox, the Bulls would be able to rely on him to fill every role as a wing. That kind of role clarity is important for a young team.
Knox was 2-of-12 from distance in the two games prior to his 4-of-4 explosion on Tuesday night. Kentucky has been disappointing this year, and losses to Florida and South Carolina in the past week are just pieces of that disappointment. Knox is not the type of player who should be given the responsibility to carry and offense, but with others struggling he often takes the majority of the shots.
Other options will appeal to Chicago here, including Miles Bridges, but that fit isn’t as impressive to me as that of Knox.
