2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
I watched Porter’s matchup against Robert Williams and Texas A&M from Saturday, in which the freshman put up a big dud, scoring zero points.
However, there were a few positive takeaways to gather from the game. Despite missing several easy put-backs around the rim and other easy layups, Porter stayed aggressive. He had success driving past Williams at the top of the key in pick-and-pop situations, despite Williams being a generally quicker player. And he continued to attack as a passer, often dishing to open shooters once he got past Williams.
Porter finished the game with two assists and two offensive rebounds in 21 minutes, signifying an attempt to impact the game positively in areas outside of shooting. He was also able to out-compete Williams consistently on the glass.
The Missouri freshman hasn’t shown enough to move into the lottery for me, but he continues to be interesting in the back half of the first round. Boston makes a ton of sense, as they will continue to need young role players as they build their team, especially at the big man positions.
