125. . PG. Creighton. Khyri Thomas. 26. player

Every team needs shooting, but Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer might prize it more than anyone. Thomas has been one of the country’s best shooters this year, launching nearly five attempts per game and making them at a 38 percent clip.

The leader of college basketball’s 16th-ranked offense feels like he should get drafted even higher than 26. Yet as a junior with average athleticism, there’s a legitimate fear that this is as good as Thomas will be. The Hawks have historically been able to get top value out of talented players though, so this feels like a good match between team and player.

Considering that Hawks starting point guard Dennis Schroeder is a below-average shooter, it makes sense to bring someone in at that position with a slightly different skill set. The Hawks figure to bring in so many rookies from this draft that roster construction doesn’t matter so much.

Thomas would get them off to a good start filling out the guard rotation.
