2018 NBA Mock Draft: Collin Sexton could break open the New York Knicks’ ceiling
Milton was on the other side of the Wichita State-SMU duel from over the weekend, cocking back pull-up jumpers with no abandon as the Mustangs built a lead that even Shamet’s second-half scoring barrage could not overcome. Is there a more perfect Spur?
Along with that dazzling shooting ability (with, albeit, an odd form), Milton has tremendous length for a ball-handler, which will give him a defensive advantage over point guards every night. Everything San Antonio does starts with ball movement and defense, two areas where Milton already has the tools to excel.
He had 33 points on 11-of-14 shooting against the Shockers, including a pull-up dagger from the top of the key to stamp out Wichita State’s comeback.
One concern with Milton will be his defensive motor, but I think part of the problem there comes from SMU’s roaming zone defense, in which Milton is allowed to switch between multiple offensive players on a single possession depending on what he reads and where his teammates are. As long as he continues to try hard and grow, I would imagine he could find a role with the Spurs.
Regardless, someone with so many skill and physical advantages can’t fall much further than this, and his style is terrifically Spursy.
