The 2018 Royal Rumble match didn’t have a ton of surprise entrants, but one did make a big splash when Rey Mysterio returned at number 27 in the match.

While the 2018 Royal Rumble was pretty void of surprises after some high expectations from fans for shocking entrants, the Philadelphia faithful did get one treat when WWE legend Rey Mysterio made his return in the match.

As fans awaited the 27th entrant into the match, their ears filled with the classic “Booyaka Booyaka” beginnings of Mysterio’s entrance music. The crowd went nuts, as Mysterio booked his way down the ring and immediately went to work.

Mysterio made a big impact on the match, quickly taking out NXT’s Adam Cole from the match and landing in the top five alongside John Cena, Shinsuke Nakamura, Roman Reigns and Finn Balor.

Outside of Mysterio, the only other surprise entrants were The Hurricane, who had himself a clash with Super Cena in the middle of the ring, and Dolph Ziggler at number 30.

Mysterio was eventually eliminated late in the match by Finn Balor before the final four entrants were set, but he did deliver some fun action to the Philadelphia fans for a quick shocker in the match.

Who knows what this means for Mysterio’s future in WWE, where he could either take over the 205 Live cast with the Cruiserweight Championship up in the air at the moment or even return to RAW or SmackDown Live for the build-up to WrestleMania. Either way, it was a crazy sight to see Mysterio back in a WWE ring, even after the rocky ending the two sides had when Mysterio’s deal ended a few years back.

Either way, something’s wrong with you if you didn’t get goosebumps when Mysterio made his way into the ring.
