NBA games of the week: Enes Kanter trash talks the world
By Chazz Scogna
Tuesday, Jan. 30: Brooklyn at New York, 7:30 p.m. ET
Potential targets: Anyone
It’s tough on a team with no stars for Kanter to find his way into the heart of a trash talking Twitter war with a player. He’s entered a clear phase: He’s only interested in attacking the biggest stars on each team. Perhaps that’s D’Angelo Russell at some point in the future. Or perhaps he goes after Caris LeVert, the Nets’ best player off the bench. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but unless someone says something to Kanter first, he’ll just treat it as a regular game.
The Knicks are struggling in 2018. They’re 4-10 in January. Their defense has slipped to 110.5 points per 100 possessions over that span. Stretch that out to an entire season, and there’s a defense finally worse than the Cavaliers — though not by much.
But the Knicks have owned the Nets this year, which doesn’t mean a whole lot, but still means something. On Tuesday they could land a season sweep on their New York roommates.
