NBA games of the week: Enes Kanter trash talks the world
By Chazz Scogna
Friday, Feb. 2: New York at Milwaukee, 8:00 p.m. ET
Potential targets: Giannis Antetokounmpo
I don’t think Kanter will trash talk the Greek Freak because who wants to open that Pandora’s Box? LeBron makes sense because he’s sensitive at times, and he’s the best player in the world. I won’t rule it out because no one’s safe from the long arms of Kanter’s trash talk, but this may be the one star, besides Russell Westbrook, that doesn’t fit his pattern.
Tuesday will be the first time these two teams face each other, and they will play three more times over the next two-ish months. The Bucks fired coach Jason Kidd last week and as an aside, I find the whole situation so strange. It’s one thing to get fired and release a statement. It’s another to expose your superstar player’s willingness to do whatever it takes to get you to keep your job. It was selfish on Kidd’s part to leverage Antetokounmpo’s loyalty to him in an attempt to curry public favor (if that’s even what it was).
Since then, the Bucks are 2-0 with Joe Prunty as their interim coach, which isn’t enough to say the Bucks are playing inspired basketball or have improved with the ousting of Kidd.
