4. team. 30. . . . Austin Seferian-Jenkins

The need for pass catchers is a top priority, tight end included. It’s a position the Ravens have struggled with since Dennis Pitta’s retirement. Benjamin Watson had quite the comeback season off a torn Achilles but is mulling retirement as an unrestricted free agent.

Crockett Gillmore is also a free agent and Darren Waller has struggled to stay on the field because of suspensions. That leaves Nick Boyle and Maxx Williams, both who have missed time because of different issues. Neither are game changers and it’s time the Ravens acquire a real threat. Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be the answer.

The former second-round pick ran into tough times with arrests and suspensions during his early career with the Buccaneers and was claimed off waivers by the Jets late in 2016. This season was a prove-it type year for Seferian-Jenkins and he finished with 50 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers don’t jump off the charts but Seferian-Jenkins is a gigantic target at 6-foot-6 and could be what the Ravens are looking for. His size allows him to be a threat in the red zone, which is an area the Ravens have struggled with in recent years.

Obviously, signing Seferian-Jenkins comes with a risk. Limited cap space might not allow the Ravens to take a chance on a player. They have to spend their money wisely but I could see this being a risk worth taking. Given that he earned just $936,690 in 2017, the Ravens could sign Seferian-Jenkins on a short-term deal that’s cap friendly. Joe Flacco is at his best when he has a big target in the middle of the field and that’s exactly what this would provide.
