2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers saw their season fly out the window when Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone during a Week 6 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. Sure, Rodgers did make it all the way back towards the end of the season, but the Packers had fallen too far behind to make a run. As the team heads into 2018, they have to be happy with what they saw from some of their young players, and should definitely be a playoff contender moving forward.
When it comes to the 2018 Packers, they need help on the defensive side of the ball. One area where they could stand to upgrade is in the defensive backfield, specifically at cornerback. They spent two picks on the secondary last year, and bringing in more young talent on the defense has to be a priority. Josh Jackson from Iowa led the FBS in interceptions last season, including one in the Pinstripe Bowl to end his college career.
Green Bay has enough talent to win games in the NFC North, but their weakness in the secondary shows against some of the better passers in the NFL. If they want to get back to the Super Bowl, they have to add depth to that unit, and Jackson is a great find at No. 14. Green Bay is going to be fine on offense, especially with Rodgers back next season, so stopping the pass will prove crucial as they look to put 2017 in the rearview.
