2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
During the 2016 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys were the class of the NFC. Ripping off 13 wins, the Cowboys locked down the No. 1 seed in the NFC, though they would lose at home in the Divisional Round to the Green Bay Packers. However, they appeared ready to be a team that is a perennial playoff contender, but they failed to make the playoffs in 2017, in what was a very dissapointing season.
Most of the issues the Cowboys faced was due to the fact their star running back missed six games due to suspension. The Cowboys very well might have made the playoffs against had Ezekiel Elliott played a full slate, as they barely missed the playoffs without him. Looking forward to next season, the Cowboys should be right back in it, though they will have to overcome a Philadelphia Eagles team in the division who made it to the Super Bowl.
When it comes to the draft, they need to get better up front on defense. Their young secondary really turned heads last season, after the unit lost most of their veteran presence to free agency. Picking a guy like Maurice Hurst from Michigan would really bolster their front on the defensive side of the ball, bringing in a player who is so versatile that he is just as good against the pass as he is against the run.
