2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
Thanks to the trade they made with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2017 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills will actually pick twice in the first round in April. Due to the fact both teams lost in the Wild Card Round, the Bills will pick twice in a row, and they should bolster both sides of the ball with the picks. Expect the Bills to draft a quarterback with their first pick in round one, but bring in a new linebacker with their second pick at No. 22.
The best linebacker in this draft class is Roquan Smith from Georgia, who led his team to the national title game this past season. However, his opponent in that game also has an elite linebacker talent in Rashaan Evans, who also should hear his name called in the first round. Evans is the kind of player you can base your linebacking corps around, and he may be available this late in round one.
Evans won two national titles during his time at Alabama, and on the Bills, he could play right in the middle of their defense. This is an organization trending in the right direction, and bring in some more solid young players could mean an actual win the playoffs next year. The Bills young secondary stepped up last season, so adding depth to the linebacker group could make this defense elite in 2018.
