2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
The magical run by the Minnesota Vikings came to an end two weeks ago, as they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. Still, it was an incredible season for the team, who were led by a third-string quarterback in Case Keenum. In fact, Keenum showed he belongs as a starter in the NFL, even if it might not be with the Vikings moving forward.
When it comes to this Vikings roster, there are some areas of need heading into next season. While it is anybody’s guess as to who will start at quarterback, they also need to fix some of the issues up front. If they want to continue to get better, they need added depth at the tackle position, and bringing in a player like Martinas Rankin from Mississippi State might be a nice find this late in the first round in April.
Rankin is a big body, and could definitely stay on the left side at the next level. He has tremendous size and strength, and would be a welcome addition to a Vikings offensive line that needs to add a bunch of depth this offseason. The Vikings get Dalvin Cook healthy back next season, and possibly Sam Bradford at quarterback, so there is a good chance they could stay atop the NFC North for the foreseeable future.
