2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
On February 4, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, and they will do so without starting quarterback Carson Wentz. Wentz tore up his knee in a Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, and the team has had to sail without him. Luckily for Eagles fans, backup quarterback Nick Foles has been just what the doctor ordered, joining Joe Montana as the only two quarterbacks in history to complete 70 percent of their passes through two playoff games.
While the outcome of the Super Bowl is unknown, what is known is that this is an organization heading in the right direction. Wentz expects to be back for Week 1 next season, and the team is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. If the Eagles want to remain atop the NFC East, they do need to shore up some holes, specifically along the offensive line moving forward.
Jason Peters has been a Hall of Fame player as the team’s left tackle, but he also blew out him knee this past season. Unlike Wentz, Peters is at the end of his career, so they need to spend their first round pick on bringing in another tackle for next season. Western Michigan’s Chukwuma Okorafor is as good a left tackle prospect as any player in this draft class, and he may slip to the end of the first round in April.
