2018 NFL mock draft: Baker Mayfield heads to Jets
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos were a team that really struggled in 2017, as they just could not string wins together. Denver started out the season strong, and it looked like Vance Joseph might be the man to bring them back to the playoffs in his first season as head coach. Instead, Joseph found himself on the hot seat as the season rolled on, though the organization did commit to him for the 2018 season after the regular season ended.
One area where the team struggled all season long was at quarterback, where they started three different players in 2017. While Brock Osweiler got a lot of the run at quarterback during the season, he is not expected to be back, and neither is Week 1 starter Trevor Siemian. The Broncos made Paxton Lynch a first round draft pick in 2016, and he has played sparingly, and it looks like he may be the only player of the three to be back next season.
No matter who is starting under center in 2018, this team needs some help up front. While the team did spend a first round pick on a tackle in 2017, they may want to add a player to the interior of their offensive line in April. That player should be Quenton Nelson, who is not only the best guard in this draft class, but he may be the best overall offensive lineman of the bunch.
