High Value C

Pau Gasol, SA vs HOU ($6,400): Gasol has hit value in six of his last seven. He played just 18 minutes and contributed 11.3 fantasy points against the Rockets on Dec. 15. I worry about Gasol’s ability to stay on the court against the high-powered Houston offense. He’s a good contributor when he’s able to play, I just don’t know if he’ll be able to play. He needs 28.4 fantasy points to hit value on Thursday. I can’t say with 100 percent confidence that he’ll hit that number due to the minutes uncertainty. **

Jonas Valanciunas, TOR at WAS ($6,300): The good news for Valanciunas is that he’s averaging 42.4 fantasy points in his last four games. The bad news is that he’s averaging 13.8 fantasy points in two games against the Wizards. I love how he’s played recently and I’m willing to give him a pass for those two games against Washington as they both took place in November. It’s a different time for Valanciunas and he’s become a much more reliable player as of late. ***

Marcin Gortat, WAS vs TOR, ($4,600): Gortat has barely hit value in his last two games, helped in largely due to a salary that dipped below $4,000. He needs 20.4 fantasy points to hit value on Thursday. He’s averaging 32.2 fantasy points in two games against Toronto this season, but I do not love how he’s played in recent games. I also know that the Wizards are using more of a small ball lineup, which cuts into Gortat’s minutes. This is a good matchup, but he’s a risk due to recent play. **
