West Brom and Southampton are both in the relegation zone ahead of their game on Saturday. The Baggies are dead last in the Premier League, three points behind Southampton and four points from safety. The Saints are 18th, just one point from safety. Saturday’s game at The Hawthorns could be a deciding factor in which team survives and which team gets relegated to the Championship.
West Brom lost 3-0 to Manchester City on Wednesday. The Baggies have four points in their last four games but have won only one game since the end of August. West Brom are at the bottom of the table, largely because of their inability to score. Only Swansea and Brighton have scored fewer goals than the Baggies 19 goals. However, the club is hoping the signing of Daniel Sturridge on loan from Liverpool can take them out of the relegation zone. Sturridge was never in the plans for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and we will to earn a spot with England at the World Cup this summer with a strong half-season at The Hawthorns. In 195 career Premier League games, Sturridge has scored 75 goals.
Southampton have fallen into the relegation zone after failing to win since Nov. 26. Over their last 12 games, the Saints have seven points. Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have draws in four of their last five games but have not been able to hold on for a win, twice blowing second half leads. Charlie Austin leads the Saints with six goals, however, no other Southampton player has scored more than three goals.
