2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
The Detroit Lions nearly made the playoffs for the second straight season in 2017, although they fell just short in a very tough NFC Conference. Still, they are building something solid in Detroit for the first time in a long time, and they certainly have the right player in place at the quarterback position. Matthew Stafford was given a contract that made him the highest-paid player in the NFL last offseason, he played well enough to warrant that contract throughout the season.
On offense, Detroit has a ton of talent, especially at the wide receiver position. They also have a very solid running back tandem, and their tight end play is very good at times. On defense, they also have some key players to build around, including 2017 first round draft pick Jarrad Davis, who could wind up being one of the better linebackers in the conference before long.
With their first pick in round one in April, they should look to add another linebacker to the fold in Harold Landry. Landry played the defensive end position during his time at Boston College, but could play a hybrid role at the next level. The big edge rusher could have been a first round draft pick last year, but decided to return to the Eagles for one more year, and he did nothing to lose his first round grade with his play this past season. He would be a solid addition to a defense on the rise.
