Linebacker. Texas. Malik Jefferson. 22. player. 16.

The Buffalo Bills made a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2017 NFL Draft, and nabbed their 2018 first round pick in the process. The Chiefs used that pick to select Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, who is slated to start for the team in 2018 after they traded away incumbent starter Alex Smith. With the pick received, the Bills could swing a deal and move up in round one, but if they stay at No. 22, they might want to bolster the linebacker group.

During his time at Texas, Malik Jefferson established himself as one of the better linebackers in college football. He has a perfect build to stay on the inside at the next level, and the Bills need all the help they can get in that department. Buffalo surprised a lot of people last season by making the playoffs for the first time in 1999, and now the pressure is on the organization to be a contender for the postseason on a regular basis.

If the Bills do decide to hang on to both picks, and not move up and draft a quarterback, they could have a seriously elite defense in 2018. They already took incredible strides under McDermott in year one, and there should be some arms they can go out and get via free agency this offseason. The New England Patriots will be the class of the AFC East as long as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are around, but the Bills could be a team that nips on their heels all season long next season.
