2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
The New Orleans Saints made it back to the playoffs last season, after three straight years of only winning seven games. Head coach Sean Payton came into the season on the hot seat, as another seven-win season would likely have meant his job. In 2017, the Saints changed the way they do business down in the Bayou, utilizing a stellar defense and run game, as opposed to making Drew Brees throw the ball 50 times to win games.
Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara were the most dominant running back tandem in the NFC, and rookie cornerback Marshon Lattimore was one of the best in the league at his position. In fact, Kamara and Lattimore were named Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year respectively, putting the pieces in place for this team to be very good for a very long time. They need to lock up Brees this offseason, but that is expected to happen, putting the Saints in position for a possible Super Bowl run next season.
Heading into the draft, New Orleans needs to add a couple more weapons to the outside. Sure, Michael Thomas is one of the best in the game, but he needs help, and James Washington from Oklahoma State can certainly do that for him. Washington has game-breaking talent, and on a very balanced Saints offense, he could have an incredible impact in his first season in the league in 2018.
