2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
The Chicago Bears struggled through another tough season in 2017, and their play cost head coach John Fox his job. After the Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was quickly snatched up by the Bears, giving him his first NFL head coaching job. He is a phenomenal quarterback coach, and has a pretty blank slate with Mitchell Trubisky in Chicago.
Chicago actually traded up one spot to select Trubisky in the 2017 NFL Draft, and the plan was to sit him for a year behind Mike Glennon. Well, Glennon played some of the worst football we saw last season, and the team was forced to turn to Trubisky much earlier than expected. While Trubisky played well in spots, he just did not have enough talent around him in the passing game to really show what he can do.
Fast forward to next season and the Bears need to make sure they put some weapons around their first round pick. Calvin Ridley proved during his time at Alabama that he was the best wide receiver in college football, even if he played in a run-first offense. With the Bears, expect him to be an explosive player from day one, as Trubisky has the arm to make all the throws downfield. Adding Ridley would be a step in the right direction for Nagy and this offense.
