5 teams that should trade for Nick Foles
3. Arizona Cardinals
Carson Palmer’s retirement leaves the Cardinals without a starting quarterback for next season, and it’s hard to see Drew Stanton being re-signed to step into that role under a new coaching staff. A run at practically any free agent quarterback is in the cards, and the trade avenue to find a new signal caller also has to be on the table.
It’s a flimsy tie (or ties) in the big picture, but Foles spent the meaningful part of his college career at the University of Arizona and became a third-round NFL draft pick. He transferred to Arizona from Michigan State, and before that he had originally committed to Arizona State out of high school. A return to the desert may be appealing for Foles and his family, as much as he might have input into where he is traded.
The Cardinals will be a far more appealing destination for a quarterback if Larry Fitzgerald decides to return next season. But general manager Steve Keim seems set to lead a significant charge to find a solid (or beyond solid) replacement for Palmer, in an effort to turn things around after two non-playoff seasons in a row.
