Denver Broncos: They will finally hit on a quarterback
The Broncos were abysmal in 2017 and much of the problem stemmed from under center. Since the Super Bowl-winning days of Peyton Manning, the Broncos haven’t found an adequate replacement. They’ve gone through the likes of Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, and even Paxton Lynch. None of the three look like legitimate options going forward for John Elway but with all the criticism he’s received, the Broncos are finally going to hit on a quarterback this offseason.
Elway did make a bid for Alex Smith but the odds of Brett Veach trading inside the division were slim to none. Instead, the Broncos will be one of the favorites in the running for Kirk Cousins. He’s set to hit the free agent market after Smith’s arrival in Washington. Josh Allen and other options in the NFL draft make sense with the No. 5 pick, but the Broncos are looking to win now. This isn’t a rebuild and landing a free agent quarterback guarantees immediate results, rather than waiting in a year or two development period.

Denver is one of the most enticing free options given the talents on both sides of the ball. We saw the defense carry Manning to his Super Bowl title and they could certainly do that again. But, it’s going to be the quarterback under center that leads the Broncos to postseason success in 2018. Whether it’s Cousins, Case Keenum or another free agent option, John Elway has his blueprint laid out.
It’s no exaggeration saying the Broncos are just a few pieces away and addressing the quarterback position could very well bring them a Super Bowl title.
