Miami Dolphins: A dangerous wide receiver core
It’s never ideal having a 34-year-old Jay Cutler under center but that’s exactly what the Dolphins were subjected to during the 2017 season. Cutler primarily served as a stopgap and were no real postseason expectations for the Dolphins. There record reflected their struggles as they finished 6-10, just in front of the New York Jets in the AFC East. This season provides a different storyline, however. Ryan Tannehill returns from injury and will have a dangerous wide receiver core to work with.
The trio of Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, and Kenny Stills is something to be excited about. They combined for 2,504 receiving yards but the Dolphins were a middle-of-the-pack passing offense. That was a direct correlation of the quarterback play under center and that improves with Tannehill back. He’s much more talented than the combination of Cutler and Matt More, there’s no question about it. Landry is fantastic out of the slot and led the NFL with 112 receptions this season. Stills is the deep threat with touchdown potential and Parker is beginning to come in his own entering his fourth season.
Having said this, the front office’s ability to re-sign Landry to a long-term deal is crucial. He’ll be highly sought after in the free agent market but the Dolphins would be silly to let him walk. Many write off Landry because he plays primarily in the slot but he’s damn good at it. He complements Parker and Stills, which makes the passing game that much better.

They haven’t been to a Super Bowl in over 30 years and that’s going to change one way or another. If these receivers can take their game to the next level, the Dolphins could be a Super Bowl contender coming out of the AFC.
