4. Lamarcus Joyner

Much like Butler from earlier, Lamarcus Joyner could provide some help in the secondary to help re-establish some defensive power for the Steelers.

In his time with the Los Angeles Rams, Joyner has grown into a star safety, giving quarterbacks fits in the NFC West. He’s an incredible athlete, and you can tell Wade Phillips coaching him defensively worked wonders for his career. He’s going to be one to watch in this free agency period, with tons of teams likely looking to add him to their rosters for the new year.

Meanwhile, on the Steelers’ end, Mike Mitchell struggled in 2017, and could be on his way out as the team moves forward to 2018. Money obviously will be a big issue to look at for the Steelers, and cuts could be coming to clear space for some bigger players. Depending on how everything falls, Joyner could be a good target for the Steelers to pursue.

While they struggled at times, the Steelers showed they have talent offensively to work with. If they can keep the Killer B’s around for one more season, they’ll just need to load up on defense to really make a run at one more title in the Big Ben era in Pittsburgh. The first step would be to build an impressive secondary, and Joyner could help to do just that.

Add in the potential for a Joe Haden-Lamarcus Joyner (and possibly even Malcolm Butler if they somehow pulled that off), and the Steelers could be a wrecking crew in 2018.
