Indiana Pacers

Sending out: Al Jefferson (ATL), 2019 second-round pick (DEN)

Bringing in: JaMychal Green (MEM)

With the partially guaranteed deals of players like Darren Collison and Bojan Bogdanovic, the Pacers have the potential to do a lot more at the NBA Trade Deadline. But they are also firmly in the playoffs enjoying an exciting season that has energized their fanbase. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the Pacers might be well served making a small move like this to improve their team this year without sacrificing much future flexibility.

Green has one-year left on his deal after this season, at a very reasonable price just under $8 million. He’s an athletic aggressive defender who crashes the glass and has a little bit of stretch to his game from the power forward position. Green would be a nice fit behind Thad Young off the bench, giving Indiana depth and letting Domantas Sabonis play center exclusively.

The cost here is extremely low — a second-round pick and Al Jefferson who is mostly a veteran, locker-room leader at this point in his career.
