On Sunday, quarterback Carson Wentz won a shiny new piece of jewelry when his Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. On Tuesday, he announced that he gave his longtime girlfriend a shiny new piece of jewelry, as well: an engagement ring.
Ring sizes have no doubt been a subject that has occupied much of Wentz’s time recently.
Wentz and the rest of his Eagles teammates will soon be fitted for their diamond-encrusted Super Bowl LII rings, but it turns out Wentz was already in possession of a sparkly rock — the one he presented to Madison (Maddie) Oberg this week:

“And now Maddie and I both got us a ring,” Wentz, who turned 25 in December, said in his post.
Wentz and Oberg began dating sometime in 2017; the quarterback featured her on his Instagram for the first time when he posted a shot of her in his hospital room as he recovered from knee surgery in December:
The relationship progressed quickly from there, with Oberg spending time with Wentz’s family over both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays:
Oberg seems to share Wentz’s competitive streak; per the passer, the two won the inaugural family gingerbread cookie decorating contest:

Wentz supported quarterback Nick Foles and the rest of his Eagles teammates from the sideline as they defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII to bring the first Lombardi Trophy in franchise history to Philadelphia, but the talented young passer should have the chance to lead his team to a second championship before his time in Philadelphia concludes.
Though Wentz’s recovery timeline remains up in the air, with a chance he won’t be available for the beginning of the 2018 NFL season, head coach Doug Pederson made it clear that he sees Wentz in the Eagles’ long-term championship plans.

“I told him that hopefully we’ll be back in this game with him leading the way,” Pederson said in his post-Super Bowl press conference.
And in case you were wondering, Eagles fans — yes, Wentz got down on his non-injured knee.
